Taking a Leap for Change

Its been awhile since I last posted.  But I wanted to touchable a bit.  There have been a lot of things that happen since the last post.  Here’s a few things.  I went to New York City for a whirlwind weekend adventure of photography and hanging out with a buddy.

The trip to New York was filled with so much excitement, insight, and just pure brotherly love.  This trip also showed me that heroes are as you can hope they are.  My photographic heroes didn’t disappoint me at all.  They are all the same as I expected and more.  They are all great people.  And that’s the just the thing I realized is that they are just people.  So given that it was amazing to know that they are the same in person as their personas on the web.

The highlight of the photographic adventure of this trip, was finally meeting my friend and fellow photographer Douglas Sonders in person.  I met Douglas several years ago via social media.  It was one of those, why would this photographer follow me kind of things.  I still don’t know why he followed me but it has been a great friendship over the internet.  But it was a pleasure to meet Douglas in person finally.  This was especially great since the class that he was teaching was the last class that he would possibly teach for awhile.  So I figure this would be the best opportunity to at least say hello.

Secondly on this trip, I got to hang out with my great buddy and friend, Rob.  Rob is one of the coolest people that I have had to pleasure to befriend.  Rob and I connected almost immediately and since we met at WLC in Chicago this past summer, it has blossomed into a great friendship.  This weekend in New York we got to hangout, learn about each other, catch up, and just have a wonderful adventure as friends.  It was cool to see he’s love for firefighting and just to see he’s excitement for life.  Rob in many ways is very mature for he’s age.  When I look back when i was he’s age, I didn’t know what I wanted in life.  I know that we don’t have everything in order at that age but I believe that Rob will be fine.  But also equally great is that he is open to the possibilities that life will bring him.  It was great to see this in him.  I truly do wish the best for him.

The trip to New York also gave me some time to reflect and see what I wanted in life.  The relaxation that I got from this trip is that I am happy where I am currently but I know I want to do better and improve myself.  So I decided on this trip that in order for me to do that.  I will need to do something that I have been learning a lot about lately.  And that thing is coaching.

Over the last several months I have been thinking about coaching.  I don’t want to be coach rather I would like to be coached.  This I believe will help me see the bigger picture but also find focus and clarity in what I want to have happen in life.

So on the writing of this posting I have decided to get coached.  I have signed up for 4 months of getting coached.  I don’t know what to expect.  The only thing I know is that I will be a better and more improved person that perviously.  I will have to do my best and make it work.

So that’s all for now.  Until next time.
