Oliver the Traveler…where have you been?!

20131029-160944.jpg

Okay, so it has been a nearly a week and a half that I haven’t posted here on the blog. The reason being is that I was out discovering the wonderful state of Utah with my buddy Randy. This trip gave me an opportunity to relax, explore, and learn. From visiting 5 national parks, 2 state parks, and 1 national monument. And add the immense beauty that a Utah fall has to offer, there was a lot to take in during the whole trip.

Plus during the trip the internet connectivity was fair and few. Which meant that emails, texts, and calls were not happen at all. It was one of those times that you realized what you did when you didn’t have such access. And what I did with that, was talk and reflect. Enjoyed the quiet and the company. It was just one of those trips.

Over the next couple of post I will be posting more about the trip. And quite possibly make a move with some of the post to another blog. The post that will be transferred and move will be the photography related post.

There has been a lot of things that I have been able to realized and think while I was away for the last week. It was one of those things that I needed to have for myself so that I can move further. So with that, I am back and I will be sharing more things in the coming days. But I wanted to touchbase with you all and make you know that I didn’t fall off the blogging bandwagon again. Although some of those thoughts did enter my mine.

So stay tune; some exciting adventures, stories, and news will be posted soon. 🙂

Oliver the Photographer…Goes to CreativeLive (Part #1)

There are things that happen in your life that you sometimes go, why me? Then as you sit there asking yourself that question, it occurs to you that it was because you needed to be there. Somehow the things aligned and you where meant to be there. And a couple of weeks ago I was lucky, blessed, and humbled to have experienced that during my trip to CreativeLive in Seattle, Washington.

If you don’t know what CreativeLive is, in summary it is an on-line classroom where you can learn just about anything in the creative field from blogging to photography to health. You can watch the classes for free during the LIVE event and if you enjoy the class you can purchase the class and rewatch it at your own leisure.

Here’s a video I created from that trip.  A full summary of that experience to come soon.  Stay tuned.

Grand Tetons National Park

Some of the best photography opportunities come when you least expect them. It is when these opportunities present themselves, that your practice and skill become important. It is only with consistent and intentional practice that you as a photographer will be prepared for any situation. Photography is a craft that you sharpen your skills over time and learn from your mistakes.
The following photograph was captured during a mad dash back to the Snake River Overlook ( the famous spot where Ansel Adams took he’s Grand Tetons photo ). My friends and I were lucky enough be far enough as the sun broke through the afternoon clouds as they head east over the Grand Tetons.
